10 Most Unique Bali Jungle Experiences

1. Take a Bath With An Elephant
Hose, and scrub them, swim with them, ride bareback and fall in love with the gentle giants at Bali’s only dedicated elephant rescue facility. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Oh, and the breakfast and lunch buffets are not too shabby either. The 4-hectare Mason Elephant Park was created in response to the devastating situation in Sumatra where rampant deforestation and poaching has dwindled the native elephant population.

2. Fry An Egg In An Active Volcano
How do you like your eggs? How about cooked over the steam of an active volcano? Have them scrambled or sunny side up on the summit of Bali’s volcanic and sacred Mount Batur. And you’ll have built up a very healthy appetite after trekking since 3am, but the sunrise, from your literally heavenly position above the clouds, makes it all worth it. And, if you’re lucky, you may see monkeys on the way down.

9. Go Ape: Get Pick-Pocketed By A Monkey
There’s a Hindu belief that Balinese long-tailed Macaques could be reincarnated humans. On the brink of entering or maybe just leaving the ranks of humans. Locals believe it’s important that a spiritual presence exists among the Macaques, hence the presence of monkey temples in Ubud Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary. But the Asian Long-tail Macaques are not that fussed about manners or morals. They’ll only approach you if you have food and might even snatch a bag of snacks from your bag. Pick pocketing is also a popular monkey business, particularly if a shrewd macaque spots you trying to hide food in your pockets. It’s not because they’re hungry, they get fruit, sweet potato and other veggies three times a day. You can also buy bananas in the sanctuary if you want to feed them (apparently some are a little tubby).
